Engineering Week in Fourth and Fifth Class
This week the boys and girls have been busy creating magnificent structures for Engineering Week.
Challenge 1: Make a marble run. The marble must complete the run in 60 seconds.
In this challenge boys and girls were learning that the slides and chutes in a marble run use gravity and that if you add friction to your run it can change the speed of the marble. Friction is a force between two surfaces that causes a moving object to slow down.
Challenge 2: Create a pinwheel to show how wind energy is generated
Wind energy is currently the largest contributing resource of renewable energy in Ireland. In 2018, wind provided 85% of Ireland’s renewable electricity and 30% of our total electricity demand.
Take a look at all the amazing structures to see how they got on 🔍.
