Science Week: Bats in 4th and 5th Class

Today we learned about bats with Phoebe Larkin from the National Parks and Wildlife Service.
Here are some facts about bats.

- 9 Species live in Ireland.
- Most common species is the pippistrelles.
- Myotis bats live under the Inagh bridge 
- 14,000 individual species of  bats live in the west of Ireland 

Myths

  • bats do not carry rabies,
  • bats do not fly into your hair,
  • bats do not drink your blood,
  • bats are not blind.
