PE (Curricular)
All pupils are provided with 60minutes timetabled P.E. per week as a minimum.
All teachers teach at least 5 of the 6 P.E. strands - Aquatics, Athletics, Dance, Gymnastics, Games, Out door and Adventure - each year.
All pupils from infants to 6th class attend swimming lessons in the local pool.
Our school teaches the Land PAWS water safety programme each year to all classes during Active Schools' Week.
Teachers endeavor to allocate a balanced amount of teaching time to each of the different strands.
Teachers work together to strengthen their delivery of a different P.E. strand each year. We use the P.S.S.I. lesson plans and Move Well, Move Often resources to guide our delivery of the P.E. programme.
Our school ensures that P.E. activities are planned so that they are accessible to all.
Members of staff regularly undertake C.P.D. in P.E. and ideas and resources are shared among staff.
Each child's progress is discussed with parents at P/T meetings and feed back included in the child's end of year report.
Our school carries out an annual audit of P.E. equipment and resources are organized and clearly labelled in our P.E. store.
All pupils receive P.E. homework once a week, related to the strand that pupils are currently working on.
This year we have prioritized the following four fundamental movement skills for further development in our P.E. programme.
Locomotor- Jumping for height/length
Stability- Balancing
Manipulation- Throwing and striking with an implement.
