Burren Project
The children on 5th and 6th class took place in the place based programme, Áit Beo. Over a 9 week period, children investigated their local place and their role in its future. The programme was provided by Kate Lavendar Duncan, an experienced member of the Burren Beo team. The activities were presented both in the classroom and as field based activities. Through hands on and fun learning, children developed in their knowledge of the immediate place and community.
At the end of the 9 week programme, children had the opportunity to visit the Burren Beo Centre in the heart of Carran. Here, they explored the natural environment, the plant life and animal life. They also participated in fun learning activities in investigating the history of local ruins and monuments. The children really enjoyed participating in this programme.
